Anti-spam mail gateway

Spamming is defined as the massive sending of unsolicited mail. Spammers collect available email addresses on the web, using robots, and then send bulk messages to these email addresses through a specific application.

Such practices can have a significant impact on targeted organizations:

  • Spams received take a lot of space in the recipients’ mailbox;
  • The email overload makes it difficult for recipients to screen and read their messages. When they destroy spams, they may mistakenly ignore or destroy important messages;
  • Screening and deleting spams is a waste of productive time;
  • When transferred to recipients, spams monopolize the bandwidth;
  • Spams often contain inappropriate contents and links that can represent a significant risk for an organization. Users could, out of sheer curiosity, be tempted to read some of these spams and thus compromise security.

The ideal solution to avoid this type of problem consists in implementing an anti-spamming device at the receiving end of the server. This will allow blocking unsolicited emails at the entry point, which will prevent the overload of the network and of employees’ mailboxes. However, for such an anti-spamming device to produce the expected results, its configuration must be optimal:

  • It must not block legitimate emails sent to your employees;
  • Warning messages sent to your employees when a spam is detected must be clear in order to avoid misinterpretation.
