Two employees of IS have won the last Centinel Hackfest 2005 contest organized by the Congrès Étudiant sur les Nouvelles Technologies de l'INformation et de l'ELectronique (CENTINEL) which took place at Laval University last September 17.
The contest which comprised several strict rules, consisted in analyzing the source code of the software installed beforehand on the team’s network, to find any loopholes, correct them and exploit the other teams’ servers.
This illustrates well the IS specialists’ computer security skills, particularly with respect to the security of applications.
We must remember that security is made up of several elements, among which, application security. It is essential to understand the functioning of all its aspects before earning the right to be called a genuine computer security specialist. This is what IS is all about!
